For many years I struggled with hidden blocks in being able
to reach my life goals. I couldn’t figure out what was holding
me back or why it was so difficult to succeed. I figured it had
to be something outside myself. “It’s the way the world is
right now,” I’d say, or perhaps “it’s because I’m a
woman in a man’s world.”
I studied and used metaphysics, meditation, self-help books,
counselors, friends and strangers to creatively dissolve
obstacles. This helped build a lot of character and gave me
poise and confidence and was all hard work.
One day my astrologer gave me a gift that had been given to
her. It seemed almost too reasonable and easy compared to what
I’d done in the past and if it wasn’t difficult, it must be
too good to be true. So I put it on the shelf. The day came when
I needed something easy and I dusted off the gift and used it.
The results of using this gift were miraculous, to say the
least. Here’s the Gift:
1. Every day for 7 days write “I, (fill in your name),
forgive (fill in a person, place or thing) completely” 70
times. (For example: I, Jeannette, forgive Bob completely.)
2. Every day for another 7 days write “I, (fill in your
name), forgive myself completely” 70 times.
3. At the end of 14 days, take all the paper you’ve
generated and burn it while offering a little prayer like “I
release this back to the Universe”. (I like to use an
affirmation my Guru wrote “Seeds of past karma cannot
germinate when roasted in the fires of wisdom.” That’s
pretty long so something simple is just as good).
That’s it! That’s
all there is.
Here’s what happened the first time I used the gift. My
first “subject” was Mom. This is a pretty obvious choice for
most of us. My Mom and I hadn’t been on very good speaking
terms for a year or more. Although I didn’t “think” my
difficulties had anything to do with her, I decided to clear
this matter up as a distraction. Late in the evening of the
third day after I finished writing the 70th “I, Jeannette,
forgive my Mom completely,” the phone rang. It was Mom. I
listened while she talked non-stop for exactly one hour about
forgiveness and how important it was in her life. Then she said
good-bye and hung up.
I was stunned. I hadn’t mentioned to anyone what I was
doing or why. Thinking about this still brings tears to my eyes.
I finished the next four nights and completed the second 7-day
series of forgiving myself. The communications between my Mom
and I were repaired. No gushing apologies or explanations were
needed. We were simply harmonious again. I followed this up with
Dad, Sister, and added places or things.
It wasn’t as “easy” as I thought. It only takes about
20 minutes each night, so the time investment is small; the
effort to keep writing despite all the thoughts that plow though
your mind is the challenge.
After many years of using this gift, (it’s usual for me to
do at least one of these a month for something) I’ve learned
that when I am having difficulty or about to start something
new, doing a forgiveness for somebody or something that seems to
be prominent at that moment, whether seemingly related or not,
leads to earlier and quicker success.

gift. No strings attached.

Inside Out~
Oh, what a wonderful day dawns. A perfect day to walk your path, to
continue your journey toward becoming.
And becoming what, you ask? Do not ask. Simply walk your path. Where does
it go, you wonder?
Do not ask, simply walk your path.
You make choices, hourly, minute by minute, and they take you along your
path. Some of you have chosen an arduous path, one strewn with obstacles.
Some of you have chosen to wander through thick woods, where the answers are
hidden.
Some have chosen long journeys which loop around the mountain. A
fortunate few have wandered into the meadow full of magical poppies, and
they dream a dream of life while they walk, seeing visions of becomingness.
But in the end, it truly does not matter. The accomplishments of this life
are not important. And whether you walk your path as a garage mechanic or
as the CEO of Fortune 500 company, you are still on a path of learning.
Neither is more important. Neither is better. And poverty is no more
virtuous than wealth. One is not more pure, more spiritual. It is truly
not relevant.
Status, wealth, achievement are things which seem important to you in this
life, but in the end, you will walk your path and learn what you need to
learn no matter what you do in the physical realm.
But whatever path you have chosen, and whatever your physical life is
holding out for you now, you will find that you are more successful in all
of your ventures, whatever they may be, if you focus on your spiritual
growth. It all works in concert. If you focus on becoming a generous soul,
open to others, filling your heart with love and compassion, for yourself
and others, it will begin to rub off on your physical life and achievements
as well. If you walk through life full of love, you will act in ways which
please other people.
Do not worry about short-term gains and losses. Do not worry if you seem
more vulnerable because of your consideration for others. Over the long
term, you will lift your level on both planes. As you lift your level in
the spiritual world, you will automatically lift your level in the physical
world.
So focus here. Focus on becoming a person who is so full of love for
herself that it comes across as a gentle confidence. But make that
confidence flow from genuine self-love and self-respect, not from a fake
confidence that you try to lay over an unhappy piece of self-loathing.
This is true for all of your spiritual quests. As you become successful
spiritually, as you walk down your path and draw closer to achieving the
things we talk about on these pages, it will rub off on the rest of your
life. It will help all of your friendships, all of your business
associations, all of your family relationships. For think of it: if you
treat yourself with great respect, this will affect your choices in a major
way, since you will not allow yourself to be in a situation which demeans
you in some important way. And if you treat others with respect, then it
will affect the way that they relate to you.
So many of the outward characteristics that you wish you could attain will
come to you naturally by filling your heart with love, so full that it then
overflows and goes out to others.
And so, when you are in difficult straits, find a quiet place. And in that
quiet place, allow the love of the universe, the unending love, to flow into
you. Allow it to fill you up. Then allow it to begin to flow freely, coming
into you, flowing through you, and then out, out to others. If you are
having problems with a particular person, then allow the love to flow to
her, to him, to the people you wish to have better relationships with. Then
feel how the love within you, the love you have for yourself, and the love
you have for life itself, makes you a better person.
Feel the freedom which comes with self-love. For this love always washes
away the fear, the doubt. Feel the freedom. Feel the true magnificence of
who you are. And then, feel the same for others. Know them as one with you,
one with you in the flow of love. Know them as travelers who have met you
at a cross roads. Hold out a hand of help and friendship. Take a few steps
together.
Put your focus here, on the internal, on the love, on the love as it affects
the external, and then the rest will begin to take care of itself. The
physical cannot help but be drawn to the goodness within you, inevitably.
Let it manifest itself in a completely natural and effortless way, coming
off the glow of your own spiritual growth.

While
most people spend most of their lives struggling to earn a
living, a much smaller number seem to have everything going
their way. Instead of just earning a living, the smaller group
is busily working at building and enjoying a fortune.
Everything just seems to work out for them. And here sits the
much larger group, wondering how life can be so unfair, so
complicated and unjust. What's the major difference between
the little group with so much and the larger group with so
little?
Despite
all of the factors that affect our lives - like the kind of
parents we have, the schools we attended, the part of the
country we grew up in - none has as much potential power for
affecting our futures as our ability to dream.
Dreams
are a projection of the kind of life you want to lead. Dreams
can drive you. Dreams can make you skip over obstacles. When
you allow your dreams to pull you, they unleash a creative
force that can overpower any obstacle in your path. To unleash
this power, though, your dreams must be well defined. A fuzzy
future has little pulling power. Well-defined dreams are not
fuzzy. Wishes are fuzzy. To really achieve your dreams, to
really have your future plans pull you forward, your dreams
must be vivid.
If
you've ever hiked a fourteen thousand-foot peak in the Rocky
Mountains, one thought has surely come to mind "How did
the settlers of this country do it?" How did they get
from the East Coast to the West Coast? Carrying one day's
supply of food and water is hard enough. Can you imagine
hauling all of your worldly goods with you . . . mile after
mile, day after day, month after month? These people had big
dreams. They had ambition. They didn't focus on the hardship
of getting up the mountain.
In
their minds, they were already on the other side - their
bodies just hadn't gotten them there yet! Despite all of their
pains and struggles, all of the births and deaths along the
way, those who made it to the other side had a single vision:
to reach the land of continuous sunshine and extraordinary
wealth. To start over where anything and everything was
possible. Their dreams were stronger than the obstacles in
their way.
You've
got to be a dreamer. You've got to envision the future. You've
got to see California while you're climbing fourteen
thousand-foot peaks. You've got to see the finish line while
you're running the race. You've got to hear the cheers when
you're in the middle of a monster project. And you've got to
be willing to put yourself through the paces of doing the
uncomfortable until it becomes comfortable. Because that's how
you realize your dreams.

~Thought
Vibration~
'We
must remember that all the words we use are but cloaks to cover
and render recognizable to each other a certain thought
vibration. When I say the word 'hate', it is a sound whereby I
can convey to you the thought-vibration of hate. When I say
'truth', I am trying to convey to your mind the
thought-vibration of that which is exactly true.
Therefore
the mind in prayer can take a word in which to clothe the
thought-desire of the heart.
The
covetous or needy man will have in his mind's eye all the things
that money can buy ... he will take the word 'riches' to clothe
the thought-desire of his heart. He will probably pray for
riches. But if the soul has a longing for truth, he will take,
perhaps, the word 'wisdom' as covering most nearly all that he
means in his heart and mind in his longing for truth. This man
will pray then for wisdom.
In
setting the word 'wisdom' into his prayerful mind and using the
creative God-effort within his heart, he will send out from
himself vibrations sympathetic to the inflow of the first grains
of Wisdom. Which grains, by the way, are as innumerable as
grains of sand, so how can this one contain all Wisdom?
But
if he aspire towards Wisdom with faith, with humility, and with
the sincere desire of his heart, then by the Law he will receive
such Wisdom as he can hold. And as he aspires, so will he
increase his capacity, so will more Wisdom flow into him.
I
have said this about the use of words in prayer to show you that
words are only useful in so far as they serve to focus the
desire of the heart onto one particular mental vibration. When
that vibration has been struck, the word can be forgotten, so
long as the thought vibration be held. This is the reason for
Eastern adepts making use of what are known as 'mantra', or the
reiteration of certain words or phrases which strike for them
the thought vibration that they want to hold.
Phrases
from the Bible or from the Psalms serve as 'mantra'. They carry
within them a verbal rendering of the vibrational level of mind
that the writer had struck when he shaped the words. The reader
or repeater of them catches, as it were, the vibrational
radiation of the man's mind whose devoutness framed those
words.'
