Learn to Listen
A nature philosopher who lived in the last century once
said: "The eye is directed outwards, it always sees only
the outer person. The ear, on the other hand, absorbs the
inner world of the human soul and connects with the inner
self.
We are all "eye people". We pay a lot of attention to the
way
other people look and dress. We pass our time watching T.V.,
but on the other hand we do not really want to SEE what is
going on in the world. The famous seers of ancient times,
who were capable of looking behind things, were blind.
On the other hand we have grown insensitive to our hearing,
and instead of listening we produce noise around us, so that
we do not hear the silence.
Silence leads us inwards, to our inner self. Why is it that
many times we do not like it when everything is quiet around
us? Have trust. Look for this meeting with yourself. We
have mentioned before that the voice of intuition is silent.
Open your ears. Become susceptible to the high and fine
frequencies.
Try to accept not only those sides of reality that are most
evident. Enjoy the loud, the colorful and the direct. But
explore further.
Try the following exercise:
** Sit down comfortably and close your eyes.
** Let your breath flow into your belly. Listen to
your breathing.
** After having listened to your breathing for some
time, you will be listening through your breathing.
You now hear the room in which you are sitting.
Just listen to it. Now hear through the room,
further out into the world. You may hear voices,
music or other noise coming from the street.
Listen to all of it, do not differentiate
between what is pleasant or unpleasant to
your ears.
** Now listen through all this noise. Listen to
what is behind the noise. Here will you find silence.
Now you only hear your own body. If thoughts
come to your mind, simply let them pass on.
** After having done this exercise for several
times, you will realize that also the silence
is loud, like a loud humming. Now listen through
this humming.
** Start listening to what you hear behind the
most silent silence.
If you want to connect with eternity, you must be able
to experience the NOW, because both are one and the
same. If you want to change your future, there is no
other way but to change the NOW, meaning ...
... The Power is in the Now
^^^ AFFIRMATIONS FOR LIFE ^^^
~ THE PARADISE IS HERE AND NOW ~
It is peculiar and contradictory. When I ask someone when they
are going to die, they don't know. When I ask where it is going
to happen, they don't know either. And when I ask how it is
going to happen, again they don't know. But when I ask if
they are going to die, then everybody seems to know the answer: Yes.
Yes?
Man's unconscious thought that death is inevitable, creates
a world filled with 'it doesn't matter', because we "know"
that
in the end it is all going to be over.
I know that thoughts are creative powers influencing my
feelings and acts. I choose and exercise attitudes designed
to preserve life. I am the living example for you - forever.
I protect each and every life. You are my reason to live
forever. I want this world to be the best of all worlds.
The earth is a paradise, and I will do all in my power
to make it so, for you and for me.
^^^ AN INSPIRATIONAL STORY ^^^
Moses once met a man lost in prayer, whose prayer sounded so absurd
to Moses ears that he felt compelled to stop and listen. The man
was saying:
"Let me come closer to you, dear God, and I promise you that
when you are dirty I will clean your body. When you have lice,
I will remove them. I am also a good shoemaker, and I will
make the best shoes for you. Nobody takes care of you, dear
God..., I will take care of you. When you are sick, I will
serve you and bring you medicine. And I am also a good cook".
Moses shouted at the man: "Stop this nonsense immediately!
What are you talking about? That God has lice on his body?
That he is dirty and that you need to clean him? And that
you want to be his cook? Where on earth did you learn this
prayer?".
The man replied: "I did not learn it anywhere. I am a very
simple and uneducated man, and I know that I don't have the
knowledge to pray. I made this prayer up myself ... and the things
I talk about in my prayer are the things I know. I suffer from
lice, so I assume God suffers from them too. And sometimes the
food I eat is not very good and I have a stomach ache. These
are my experiences and I filled my prayer with them, but if
you know the right way to pray, please do teach me."
And so Moses taught the man the right way to pray. The man bowed
down in front of Moses and thanked him with tears of pure
gratefulness. Moses was happy, thinking he had done a good
deed.
It was at that moment that he heard God's voice: "I sent
you to bring the people closer to me. This 'right prayer'
you have taught this man is no prayer at all, because praying
has nothing to do with laws, praying is love. Love in itself
is a law, and does not require any other law."
^^^ LET'S BE INSPIRED - OUR WEEKLY INSPIRATION ^^^
All men seek happiness. This is without exception. Whatever
different means they employ, they all tend to this end. The cause
of some going to war, and of others, avoiding its, is the same
desire in both, attended with different views. The will never
takes the least step but to this object. This is the motive of
every action of every man, even of those who hang themselves.
And yet, after such a great number of years, no one without
faith has reached the point to which all continually look.
All complain, prices and subjects, noblemen and commoners,
old and young, strong and weak, learned and ignorant,
healthy and sick, of all countries, all times, all ages,
and all conditions.
A trial so long, so continuous, and so uniform, should
certainly convince us of our inability to reach the good
by our own efforts. But examples teaches us little. No
resemblance is ever so perfect that our hope will not be
deceived on this occasion as before. And thus, while the
present never satisfies us, experience dupes us and, from
misfortune to misfortune, leads us to death, their
eternal crown.
What is it, then, that this desire and this inability proclaim
to us, but that there was once a man in true happiness of which
there nor remain to him only the mark and empty trace, which he
in vain tries to fill from all his surroundings, seeking from
things absent the help he does not obtain in things present?
But these are all inadequate, because the infinite abyss can
only be filled by an infinite and immutable object, that is
to say, only by God Himself. He only is our true good, and
since we have forsaken him, it is a strange thing that there
is nothing in nature which has not been serviceable in taking
His place; the stars, the heavens, earth, the elements,
pestilence, war, famine, vices, adultery, incest. And since
man has lost the true good, everything can appear equally
good to him, even his own destruction, though so opposed to
God, to reason, and to the whole course of nature.
Some seek good in authority, others in scientific research,
others in pleasure, Others, who are in fact nearer the truth,
have considered it necessary that the universal good, which
all men desire, should not consist in any of the particular
things which can only be possessed by one man, and which,
when shared, afflict their possessors more by the want of
the part he has not than they please him by the possession
of what he has. They have learned that the true good should
be such as all can possess at once, without diminution and
without envy, and which no one can lose against his will.
