How
to meditate:
The
secret to success in meditation is practicing REGULARLY.
You
do not need to spend hours meditating - 10-15 minutes a day
will
do. If you don't find time to meditate daily, then a few
times
a week or even a month are still better than nothing.
If
you are new to meditation, here is how you can start:
Find
a quiet place where you will be undisturbed for 30 minutes
(again
- at the beginning you will probably not meditate for more
than 15 minutes, but it will take some time before to settle
down and some time after to return). You may wish to choose
a place in the house which you dedicate specifically for
the purpose of meditation.
Sit
down comfortably. You do not have to sit in the Yogi
"lotus"
position and you do not have to lie down, but it is
important
that you are comfortable. Do not wear tight clothes
and
take off your belt, watch, glasses if you wear them.
Sit
with your back straight and feet firmly on the ground,
hands
on your knees with palms up or down - palms up allow for
a
freer flow of energy.
While
some people meditate with their eyes open, we suggest
you
close which will help you to focus.
For
relaxation, do a short de-tensing exercise:
Stretch
yourself in any way you feel comfortable. Inhale
while
you stretch and exhale while you loosen.
Dont'
forget to check you jaws which very often are tense.
To
release the tension open your mouth, move your lips and
jaws
as much as you can and relax.
When
you feel comfortable and relaxed you will want to
do
a short exercise to let go of your worries for the next
30
minutes.
A
helpful exercise you can use is imagining that there is
a
helper next to you. You can imagine this helper as being
an
angel, a figure from a fairy tale, a spiritual guide,
a
lightbeing, the Holy Spirit, whatever feels comfortable.
Trust
that He/She will take care of all your troubles. Just
let
them all go. You can imagine that you are physically
handling
over to them a bundle of all your worries, or anything
else
that comes up in your mind.
Now
when you feel that you are quiet and relaxed just breathe
deeply
and consciously. Concentrate on your breath. At the beginning
it is very helpful to count on your breath. You may want
to count to five while your inhaling, hold your breath
while
counting 1-2 and again count to five while your
exhaling.
DO NOT try to count to 6 or 7 when your not ready
for
it - DO NOT force anything.
At
the same time you way want to concentrate with your
inner
eyes on the point between your eyebrows, just a little
above
the eyebrows, the so-called Third Eye or Ajna Chakra.
Others
prefer to turn turn their inner eye inwards,
towards
their body.
If
you have difficulty with this, then just concentrate on
the
breathing and go with whatever comes up.
As
you do this you will start relaxing deeper and deeper and
you
are now actually already meditating for a while, so just
continue
for a little while longer - see, feel and
experience
what happens.
At
the beginning, when we just start to meditate, our whole
system
has to get used to this new situation where we totally
relax
and focus. Therefore, what you have done so far is
enough
for the first month of your mediation (provided you
do
it regularly, otherwise it will take longer). Of course
also
with regards to the time period you mediate there are
not
fixed rules.
You
will come back from your meditative and relaxed state
whenever
you will comfortable to do so.
When
you feel that you are ready to come back, bring your
attention
back to your body, move it a little bit, slowly
open
your eyes, look around and see the things around
you.
Then stretch out in any way that feels necessary,
while
you come back to the here and now.
You
will feel calm, refreshed and revitalized.
You
have now taken the first step for a better life for
yourself.
Keep up the good work.

Ancient Wisdom: Stop Planning ***
To
further emphasize the importance of living in the HERE
AND
NOW, please read the following principles
by
Sufi Master Sikandari who lived in the 13th century
and
advises us that we should stop planning.
This
does not mean to blindly leave everything up
to
fate, but to be open for God's ways (or - in other
words
- to be open for life itself), rather than planning
all
the details out of fear that something might go wrong.
Whoever
willingly follows the flow of life, will gain true
peace
of mind, and create everyday miracles in his life.
Following
are seven reasons, according to Sikandari, why
we
should stop planning.
1.
God Plans First
You
already know that God has planned everything for you.
He
planned for you before you were here and after you will
be
here, therefore be for him like you were before you
came
to this physical plane and trust that he
has
planned ahead for you.
2.
He Takes Care of Us
You
already know that you do not know what is best for
you
when you take care of yourself. Therefore put the care
for
yourself in the hands of God and you will see how good he
will
take care of you.
3.
Whatever has to happen, will happen
You
already know that whatever has to happen will
happen,
even if you don't understand why.
You
know that most of the times things happen
which
you did not plan for, and that the things you did
plan
for happen much less.
4.
God is the "Boss"
You
already know that God reigns all and that there is
a
purpose to everything that happens, even it it seems
"bad"
in the eyes of man.
5.
We do not own ourselves
You
already know that you are here to be in service rather
than
to fulfill your own gratifications. God has plans for
each
and everyone of us, and believe me, they are ALL
good
plans.
6.
We are God's guests
You
already know that your are a guest God's house.
As
a guest you are being taking care of by the
owner
of house.
7.
Expect a Miracle
You
NEVER know what the outcome of things will be.
Sometimes
you have a plan you think helpful and it turns
out
to be harmful to you. Sometimes from the greatest
pain
and distress there the greatest joy and bliss
emerge.
Sometimes you gain advantages through your enemies
while
you are disappointed by friends.
Therefore,
stop planning, start flowing with the
current
of life, place yourself with trust into
the
care of the Higher Force and you will experience
miracles
in your daily life.
***Let's
Be Inspired - Our Weekly Inspiration***
The
Cross is the Symbol of Man.
It
is the symbol of Giving.
Arms
are outstretched to give and to receive;
the
giving and receiving in Love.
Like
a star it points outwards.
It
is the symbol of radiation. It holds within its symbolic
self
the Wisdom of Giving with Love; Giving with
the
perfect knowledge of how to give because it is open
to
all the God-rays of Wisdom and holds them in
perfect
balance.
The
Cross is the Symbol of Perfect Balance.
Perfection
of Balance is what all men are striving
for
all down the ages.
The
Cross is the goal, the prize which each man is striving
to
achieve, to make his own.
He is striving to make of
himself a Cross, the symbol of perfect Balance.
The
Cross is a symbol of Radiation - the Radiation of the
vibration
of Light-love.
The Cross is the symbol of
that
which all men are striving to become.
Therefore
all men are striving to find the way to open
themselves
so perfectly to the Light-love-rays of
God,
so as, in their turn, to be able to give out
those
rays to others: to radiate.
They
are striving to become perfect Love instruments.
Christ
was a perfect Love instrument.
Christ had so taken
into
himself the radiation of God-Light-love-rays as to
make of Himself a lamp.
He
was a crystallization of all that God is
always
offering to all men.
