Whatever
a man prays for, whether the result be instantaneous or
protracted, depends
upon
what the man already is.
It
depends upon what he has made of himself up to date. Not only,
of course, what he has contributed
to
the sum total of himself in this life,
but
in all that has gone before.
If
in the earlier history of your life-beam you have woven into
yourself the thread of lack of balance,
if
you have by your actions and reactions to experience, woven
knots and tangles, then
those
knots and tangles must be
unraveled
before you can proceed,
clear
and untrammeled.
This
can only be done by you yourself. Wrong thought wove the
tangles; right thought must remove them.
Therefore
you can see that to receive whatever is prayed for, in some
cases, may take time, for
much
must be undone and the way cleared
before
you go on again clean
and
well-balanced.
This
does not mean that one can determine when one will receive, in
lengths of time. So much depends
also
upon the purity of one's faith and the
Extent
to which we have learned to open
ourselves
to the Power of God.
