A reader asks:

When you are attracted to a member of the opposite sex, can there be more than just the attraction element at play? I was wondering if sometimes there is a link between you and the person you are attracted to on a soul level. Maybe you were attracted because of having a past life with them. Is there such a thing as the soul of the person you are attracted to talking with your soul on another level, and then when you interact with that person it just feels right?

Quado, do you have an answer to this question?

Ah, yes, of course, of course.

All of this can be true and most often is true. I would have you think of yourself as an extension, a projection down from a soul self which exists on a level above this one. And there you are, a glowing ball of energy, full of joy and love and a deep abiding peace. And beside you, on that level, are other glowing balls of energy and each of these is also projecting down a being into this shadow world of the physical life.

Down here you are walking in semi-darkness, not always able to find your way because the glowing cord of energy from your soul self is not always full and bright. Sometimes these cords are tangled and the energy you receive is not sufficient for you to feel the full perfection of your being on the soul level. Sometimes there are just moments in which you can feel this presence of your soul self flowing into you.

But here you are. And as you walk about, having your adventures, discovering the interesting things in this life, you are also encountering other people. And as you encounter them, several things are happening. You are having this experience here on the physical level, and as such are exercising your free will to have the adventure in any way you wish. You have a force of ego and personality which inhabits this physical life, along with the physical urges and cravings and pleasures. Sometimes you follow the direction which is sent down to you from your soul self, that inner feeling of rightness. And sometimes you go against this and learn in your own way.

And as you and this other person are down here making these choices, you are also communicating up on the soul level. You are communicating in the way all soul selves communicate, though love and caring. And this love and caring may be flowing down easily into you here, or it may not. One or both of you may be blocking it. Or perhaps you are both welcoming it and open to the golden flow of energy and love which is coming down to you.

And yes, in some cases, you and this other soul may have had many encounters in many different physical adventures which we call lives. There may be levels and layers to the soul memory which is a part of the encounter, the experience. And when this happens and the flow is open and strong, you will sometimes feel that this stranger is known to you deeply on some other level. And this can be marvelous indeed.

There are several cautions to this picture, however. The first is not to assume that because you have a soul connection to another person that they are necessarily your lifelong soulmate and that your relationship will proceed easily and without challenges. All relationships have challenges, if only the challenge of both of you not always being open to the light and love flowing down to you from above. And also it may well be that the purpose of your encounter is not to give you lifetime carefree companionship, but rather to help you overcome some difficulty in your life, to bring you to a greater understanding through great challenges indeed.

In other words, even though these connections are there, that does not necessarily mean that knowing this should alter your actions and choices.

For at a higher level, you are a soulmate to everyone you will encounter. Everyone who crosses your path also exists on the soul level and is there, up beside you, glowing in joy and love. And beyond this, at the highest and widest place of all, the great all, the great one, all is one and there is no difference between you and the other people at all. You and I and we are all a part of one great glowing energetic center which simply is, in silence and glory and being. We are all one.

Open up to the flow from your own soul self. Open up and allow the golden energy to fill you. In your quiet time, reach up above your head and allow it all to flow down into you, clearing that channel so that you may open yourself to the guidance which is there for you. Then do what feels right. Act out of that feeling of centered rightness. Do this, instead of stubbornly refusing to follow your own advice, and you will save yourself much anguish. You will walk an easier and more peaceful path, facing your challenges with a touch of joy and love in your heart.

And remember as well, that all of these pictures which I paint are but metaphors for what you cannot and will not truly understand. Please accept them as such and do not spend your time in focusing on trying to make them into literal truth. Our purpose here is not to ask you to focus on a literal picture of what you cannot possibly grasp, but rather to give you some metaphors on which to build a fulfilling and peaceful life, a picture which can be a foundation for making your choices more easily.

And from all of this, what have we learned about attraction between people? It is one of the great joys of the physical life and also one of the great challenges. For you need to maintain a balance when you are physically attracted. You are to seek ways to enjoy the experience of physical love and yet maintain your own center, knowing that physical attraction comes and goes and never lasts forever.

When you fall in love it can be an amazing experience, but it will change. It will either end or will transform, but it will not stay in that same chemical flood as it is at times and at the beginning. And when that flood is over and you are left on your own or with just a normal challenging person to live with, you will want to have kept your center, your core, your love for yourself. Your goal here is not to give yourself away, thinking that you are somehow only whole and complete when you are with this person who attracts you. Keep your own center, knowing that you are whole and complete no matter what anyone else thinks or feels about you, no matter if you are alone, or deeply in love, or living in peaceful cohabitation, or living within a deeply challenging relationship. No matter what, you are you. You are centered and whole and complete. And you are love.

Reach up into yourself and feel the love. Let it flow down and give you guidance along with the peace. Let it help inform you on the right choices to make. If you establish communication with yourself, you will know when to enjoy the physical pleasures of life and when they hold dangers.

You are here to live. You are here to have adventures and to learn and grow. But you are also here to be the fullest possible expression of yourself that you can, showing your talents and your skills, your beauty glowing out and lighting up the world. Enjoy your life. Embrace it all. Feel vibrantly. Express yourself openly and vibrantly. Find many, many ways of expression, including that which you will find in physical bonding with other people.

It is all good. It is all life. It is all what it is. Let it be.
