Beyond
The Inner Critic |
|
Beyond the Inner-Critic is about quieting that little voice inside each of us that tells us we are not good enough, smart enough, strong enough, talented enough, or special enough to accomplish whatever goals we have chosen for ourselves. Our most valued dreams are often shelved because of the Inner-Critic. Quiet your Inner-Critic and see the possibilities unfold. We have all been told about the power of positive thinking, but what do you do when for all of your attempts, you simply cannot maintain a positive attitude? How do you keep moving forward towards your goals until you can get back to a place where you believe in yourself and in your dreams again? Beyond the Inner-Critic gives you more than just inspiration to move forward with your dreams. It gives you tools and ideas to help you keep taking positive steps forward when you are ready to give up and quit. Eventually, you will learn to take control of your life and to no longer allow your Inner-Critic to run your life from a place of fear and doubt.

Voices:
Divinity or Insanity? |
|
Most of us talk to ourselves, but do you ever hear a voice in your head that you know
isn't yours? It's that small quiet spirit voice that guides, warns, protects, and inspires you to take action when you otherwise might not have.
It's the guardian angel that warns you not to get on the airplane before it crashes.
It's the spirit guide that whispers the name of an old friend you haven't talked to in years
- just before the telephone rings and it's that same friend on the other line. Some would call it the voice of God, angels, fairies, spirit guides, your higher consciousness, intuition, or whatever else. There have always been reports of those fairy spirits that whisper to us telling us of ourselves and our future. Use whichever name you like to describe those little whispering spirits.

Insanity
Published at eSpiritCenter-General
Spirituality on November 12, 2004
“They’re crazy!” That’s what they’re saying about us. The majority of the people in America at this time in history do not channel spirits, do not converse with angels or aliens, do not astral project, do not know about any kind of higher vibration, and do not talk about Starseeds, Indigo Children, nor Lightworkers. They don’t know anything about ancient secrets being coded into crystals nor about the healing effects of various stones. The only animals they talk to are their pets and they don’t actually listen for any kind of a response. They don’t talk to dead people. They have no idea what kind of a higher purpose or mission they might have been sent here to do. |
Freedom
of Religion
Published at eSpiritCenter-Religion
& Spiritual Beliefs on October 29, 2004
We were all taught in school that our forefathers left England to escape religious dictatorships. Okay, there was a lot more to it then that, but it was a big enough deal that they made sure it got honorable mention in our rulebook. They clearly made the point that we were to have freedom of religion here in America. They also used the word “God” in some of their formal paperwork and even on our money. I don’t want to argue politics here, but rather semantics. They didn’t say “freedom of Christianity,” they said “freedom of religion.” |
Love
and Light
Published at eSpiritCenter-General
Spirituality on October 22, 2004
Seems that everyone who writes to me signs their letters “love and light.” It has such a bright uplifting sound to it. Lightworkers are being taught to hold the energy of the light and to equate love with a warm white light that heals and protects. After what feels like an age of suppression and darkness, it all sounds like such a refreshing change, much like the first bits of sunlight after a long harsh winter. And so the pendulum swings. Still we do not find balance.
Years ago a man came to speak at our church. Forgive me for my lousy memory, but I cannot recall which indigenous tribe or belief system he taught. |
Recognizing
Your Spiritual Calling
Published at eSpiritCenter-General
Spirituality on October 16, 2004
What's my spiritual calling? How will I recognize it when I am stumbling along through life?
It's really vogue right now to have a spiritual calling and to follow it to some form of higher awareness. But how can you know when
you've found it? Doesn't the mind have a tendency to play games with us?
Isn't it quite possible that people want so badly to be chosen for a particular life path that they convince themselves that this is the one they were destined to follow? It must be my destiny because I love it so much. I asked the heavens to shine a little light on this topic for me. |
Feelings And Attitudes
Published at eSpiritCenter-Inspiration
on October 1, 2004
Are feelings and attitudes the same thing or different? Does one cause the other to happen? Which one has more power over how we respond? Does the person experiencing them have any choice in the matter? What if they are in conflict?
Feelings are what they are. We can't force them. The phrase "I
can't help how I feel" keeps rattling around in my head as I write this. There is no magical way to change how we feel. They
aren't right or wrong, they just exist. |
The Loneliness of Personal Growth
Published at eSpiritCenter-General
Spirituality on September 25, 2004
The cream rises to the top. That means that it separates itself from the milk. Perhaps that is what the New Age Movement is really all about. We tell ourselves that
it's lonely at the top. Yes, it is. Maybe we have to figure out how to maintain ourselves as cream, but also stay whipped up within the milk?
I'm picturing some sort of luscious desert all decadent and wonderful...
like hot cocoa with the marshmallows stirred in rather than just floating on top. But then the marshmallow is no longer a unique wonderful treat,
it's been broken down into the masses and lost it's integrity. |
Taking Personal Stock
Published at eSpiritCenter-Inspiration
on September 16, 2004
What's the difference between self-criticism and self-awareness?
There's so much talk in the world about loving ourselves just the way we are. The idea is that we are each perfect and beautiful. It goes even further to say that in reference to our personal journeys, we are exactly where we are meant to be and
there's no need to berate ourselves for not being more spiritual, more educated, more affluent, more of anything. My concern is that so many people take that to mean they can then sit and do nothing about fixing any of their self-limiting ways. People act as though acknowledging a flaw or even using the very word
'flaw' is the same as self-hatred and is too critical. |
Recreating Yourself
Published at eSpiritCenter-Inspiration on September

So it's time for a change. You've taken that hard look in the mirror and
you've decided that who you are is not who you want to be. Or perhaps
you're standing at a fork in the road and where you'd like to go requires that you make some changes. Maybe
you're just really bored with your life as you've been in that same old rut for so long that you just want to scream if you spend another day doing the same amazingly boring things all over again. The reasons for change are as varied as the people making the decision to do so. The only thing you have to remember is that the change must come from you, not from someone else. |
How to Choose Your Ideal Career
Published at eSpiritCenter-Workplace
& Business Spirituality on September 2, 2004
They say that most people do complete and total career changes at least once often twice in their lifetimes. Very few people chose the ideal perfect career for themselves when
they're in high school and blissfully happily work those same jobs for the rest of their lives. With the way that technology and everything else changes so fast, I think
it's ridiculous to expect to stay in one job from the time you leave school until you retire. Even staying in the same company can be a huge challenge. So how will you pick your first career? Your next major career change? |
9 Ways to Motivate Yourself When You Just Don't Feel Like It
Published at eSpiritCenter-Motivation
& Self-Help on August 28, 2004
Achieving the really big goals and dreams always involves breaking it down into do-able little steps. Assuming that
you've picked a goal or dream that you really love working at, then most of the steps are a delight to take. No matter how much you love your dream and no matter how much you love your work, there are going to be tasks along the way that you really
don't want to do. Those pieces of work that we hate doing can be the very ones that sabotage our success. How do you stay motivated during those parts of the journey? |
Sell Your Love
Published at eSpiritCenter-Motivation
& Self-Help on August 22, 2004
It's well documented that if we love our work, then we usually become experts at it and eventually the money shows up. Makes sense, but this is a slight shift on that concept. I want you to literally look at the concept of selling love for money. This has nothing to do with prostitution. Prostitution lacks love which is the core of
what's wrong with that industry. No, I'm talking about infusing your product with love before selling it. Love is a magical indescribable element that uplifts, nurtures, blesses, and lightens the recipient. Add it to your product and watch the profits soar. |
Fantasy versus Reality
Published at eSpiritCenter-Motivation
& Self-Help on August 18, 2004
Building wealth isn't something for the frightened, ignorant, and lost. You have to be emotionally strong, prepared, and standing in the right spot. So many of us fantasize about making more money and call it prayer. We then wonder why the universe
isn't delivering our fortunes to us. I can't tell you how many people
I've listened to grumble about how they've taken all of the steps to manifest more abundance into their lives and yet it just
doesn't seem to be working. As someone on the outside looking in, it seems so obvious why their money
hasn't arrived. They are usually sabotaging their own plans and don't even know it. |
Why's It Taking So Long?
Published at eSpiritCenter-Motivation
& Self-Help on August 13, 2004
You've been studying prosperity and abundance and you understand that there is an endless flow of wealth moving about, money is passing hand to hand, as are goods and services.
You've decided that you want to jump in and participate in the game. You want your fair share of the abundant flow. You have found in your studies that your attitudes around earning money stink and
you've done a lot of work to change your belief systems. You really do believe that
you're good enough and worthy of some cash rolling your way and you'e been diligently affirming to the great cosmic forces that you are ready, willing, and able to accept your piece of the pie. |
Affirming Money
Published at eSpiritCenter-Motivation
& Self-Help on August 2, 2004
Creating abundance is probably the hottest topic across the internet. Whether
you're looking to start a business from your home computer or trying to payoff your mortgage in time to retire with comfort, everyone seems interested in how to get more money. There are personal growth and spiritual growth lessons involved in creating wealth that have been oversimplified. Most people have issues around money that cause them to block themselves from actually creating a life of wealth and abundance. A major piece of changing
one's self talk is in stating positive affirmations. |
Practice, Practice, Practice
Published at eSpiritCenter-Motivation
& Self-Help on July 26, 2004
It may sound silly but the key to self-confidence and building more self-esteem is through practice. Practice what it is you want to feel more confident about and eventually, the confidence will show itself. That makes sense if
we're talking about a skill like playing the piano. With enough practice, you naturally begin to get good at it and then you feel more confident. But what about tougher things like public speaking or meeting new people? How do you practice something that
you're terrified to do in the first place? |
Who Is The Inner Critic?
Published at eSpiritCenter-Motivation
& Self-Help on July 20, 2004
The inner critic is that voice inside your head that tells you that you
aren't good enough, smart enough, talented enough, pretty enough, or strong enough. It nags and natters at you to the point that your self confidence and sense of bravery is destroyed. You are convinced that the voice is correct and that you really
don't have what it takes to live out your wildest dreams. As time goes on, you quit setting meaningful goals. You become resigned to a life of mediocrity and dullness. |
Conversational Negative Self-Talk
Published at eSpiritCenter-Motivation
& Self-Help
on July 14, 2004
Most people don't even know they're doing it. Throughout the course of normal conversation, they bombard themselves with negative self-talk. Even people who are aware of the power of their words seem to miss some of the most commonly used derogatory comments that are made towards ourselves in the course of normal conversation. While plotting out goals and dreams we remember to stop ourselves from saying statements like
"I can't," "I'm not good enough," or "I'll never be able to pull this
off." However, it's the subtle little things that we say while on conversational autopilot that eats away at our self-confidence. |
Choosing Our Parents
Published at eSpiritCenter-Spiritual
Parenting & Children on July 7, 2004
There's a Native American belief that before we are born, we choose our parents. It actually ties in pretty nicely with the reincarnation idea that we prearrange certain circumstances before each life so as to learn different lessons. Either way, our parents teach us so much more than they ever mean to. Through their choices, circumstances, faults, talents and ability to show their love and support, they mold us. If life is a rat race, then our folks determine what we come out of the starting blocks with. |
Reincarnation
Published at eSpiritCenter-Spiritual
Parenting & Children on July 2, 2004
Many years ago, my children were raised on the various teachings and concepts of
"magic" as I was studying different religions and spiritual beliefs. I had come across many metaphysical teachings woven throughout most of the different religions. It was very important to me that they stay authentic and real. I
didn't want them to ever allow anyone to convince them to be something other than the beautiful souls they already were. They took to the metaphysical teachings quite easily and naturally. Often they already knew whatever it was I had thought I was going to teach them. |
Children Who Talk To Angels
Published at eSpiritCenter-Spiritual
Parenting & Children on June 4, 2004
What do you do when your child begins talking to some unseen entity? How do you determine if
it's a psychic event, an imaginary playmate, or some sign of a mental health issue? You want to handle things in a way that is best for your child and of course in a way that
isn't going to harm them in any way. You also want to make sure that you speak from a spiritual belief system that you can believe in. Your child will know if you are uncomfortable with the topic or if you
don't believe in what you are saying. They'll also be able to tell if you are scared or threatened by the subject matter. You will want to fully research the concepts and choices before saying something that you might later regret. |
Masculine Energy versus Feminine Energy
Published at eSpiritCenter-General
Spirituality on May 30, 2004
I have been reading a lot lately about the concepts of masculine and feminine energy. It all sort of goes along with the yin and yang definitions of masculine and feminine. I do not think I need to define the differences for you. The ideas I feel called to address today have more to do with the finger pointing and blame going on in the spiritual communities. Some religions believe in a masculine god and others in a feminine goddess. There is this snobbish assumption that only one is correct and that the other belief is foolish and misguided. Each believes that if everyone would subscribe to their particular vision of power, then all would be right with the world. |
Demanding Miracles
Published at eSpiritCenter-Inspiration
on May 23, 2004
Have you ever had an overwhelming problem or issue? Was there some circumstance in your life that seemed beyond your ability to handle it? Have you ever called out to God, Buddha, guardian angels, The Force, your higher self, Mohammed, Mother Earth, whatever name you give that spirit? To find an all-encompassing name without prejudice towards any one belief system,
I'll just hereby use the word 'god' to refer to whatever or whoever it is that you pray to for assistance and guidance. Have you cried out to your god for help and guidance with some crisis in your life? Did you get an answer? Did you get help? |
What Is Channeling?
Published at eSpiritCenter-Channeling
on May 19, 2004
From my earliest memories as a very young child, I have been experiencing various paranormal activities. I had clairvoyant visions and occasionally heard voices, but mostly I
"felt" other people's thoughts or feelings. I think my particular niche is labeled as telepathic empath. As one of those kids who always asked,
"Why?" I had to find out how all of this worked. Like any kid with a cool new toy, I wanted to feel that rush again and again. How do I make it happen again? From the time I first learned how to read, I began my quest for knowledge. What is this and how can I control it? Years later when the ghostly presence of my celestial guides invited themselves into my reality, I had to add them to my quest for comprehension.
"Who are they and how do I control them?" Here's what I know so far. |
